Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Sondio platform (“Service”), including the website and any associated APIs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Sondio is a data aggregation platform that collects, organizes, and presents oil and gas data from state and federal regulatory agencies. This includes well records, drilling permits, production data, incidents, violations, and pipeline safety records across multiple states.

Sondio is not a primary data source. Data is derived from regulatory records and is presented on an “as-is” basis. See our Data Disclaimer for important information about data accuracy and limitations.

3. User Accounts

Account creation requires a valid email address. Authentication is performed via magic link email — no passwords are stored. Each individual may maintain only one account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. Sharing account access or authentication tokens with others is prohibited.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

Sondio offers free access to browse data on the platform. Paid subscription plans provide export credits (tokens) and access to premium features. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds: Tokens that have already been used are non-refundable. If you cancel a subscription with unused time remaining, you may be eligible for a pro-rata refund of the unused portion at our discretion. Contact legal@sondio.io for refund requests.

5. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service for your own business and research purposes. You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download data from the platform for the purpose of building a competing product or reselling the aggregated data
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service beyond the documented API and its published rate limits
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with rate limiting, authentication, or other security features
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or commercially resell data obtained from Sondio without written permission
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable regulations

6. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

THE DATA PRESENTED ON SONDIO IS SOURCED FROM PUBLICLY AVAILABLE STATE AND FEDERAL RECORDS AND IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS-IS” AND “AS-AVAILABLE” BASIS.

Data may be delayed, incomplete, or contain errors introduced at the source or during aggregation. Sondio does not independently verify the accuracy of the underlying data and makes no representations or warranties regarding its completeness, reliability, or suitability for any particular purpose.

The Service does not constitute legal, financial, investment, or professional advice. You must independently verify all data before making any business decisions, including but not limited to mineral rights acquisitions, leasing decisions, or investment decisions. Sondio is not liable for any loss, damage, or expense arising from reliance on data obtained through the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

The Sondio platform — including its design, software, user interface, branding, and proprietary data aggregation methods — is the intellectual property of Sondio and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. Sondio does not claim ownership of the underlying public record data sourced from government agencies.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SONDIO AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.

Sondio's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Sondio in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time by posting the updated version on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via email or through the Service.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Texas.
